Teenage bride dies after brutal domestic abuse in Lyari

KARACHI: A 19-year-old bride, Shanti, who was critically injured due to severe domestic violence by her husband, passed away at the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma (SMBBIT) earlier today.

The incident occurred on June 17 in the Shah Baig Lane area of Lyari. According to police, the victim was subjected to brutal physical torture, with multiple parts of her body mutilated, leaving her in a critical condition.

Shanti had been under treatment at a local hospital before succumbing to her injuries.

Police have arrested the accused, Ashok, who has been sent to jail after a case was registered against him on the complaint of the victim’s brother at the Baghdadi Police Station.
