Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert warning of further rainfall and snowfall across the province. According to PDMA, rain is expected in most districts of Punjab from January 26 to 27.
The authority stated that heavy rain and snowfall are likely in Murree, Galiyat, and other hilly areas during the same period. Rain is also forecast in Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Multan, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur divisions.
PDMA Punjab has placed all relevant departments on alert, including local government bodies, the health department, Rescue 1122, police, and the transport department. The Director General of PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, said that all departments have been instructed to remain alert in line with the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
Emergency control rooms have been ordered to keep staff on duty around the clock, while Rescue 1122 disaster response teams have also been put on high alert. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather.
Special instructions have been issued for tourists visiting Murree to follow safety guidelines and take precautionary measures. The district administration and concerned departments in Murree have also been directed to remain on alert due to expected snowfall.
PDMA has urged the public to strictly follow the issued safety advisories. In case of any emergency, citizens are advised to contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.
