KARACHI: The workers of Pakistan Peoples Party and Civil Aviation Authority on Wednesday observed a brief handoff after a private airline registered a complaint against loud sloganeering in a Karachi-bound flight from Peshawar.

The PPP workers affiliated with its Karachi wing started sloganeering on the flight after returning from a public rally in Peshawar. A heavy contingent of the Airport Security Force arrived when the CAA called for the police authorities to arrest the passengers.

The PPP workers that were nearly 100 in number were temporarily taken into custody that prompted a protest inside airport premises. The PPP leaders taken into custody included Habib Junaidi, Asif Khan and Mir Abbas Talpur.

The police authorities refused to book the PPP leaders on the grounds that it is not unconstitutional to peacefully raise slogans for the political parties. Upon receiving the response from the police authorities, the CAA released the PPP workers from its custody.
