After undergoing surgery to combat a vicious infection in her body, a woman in the United Kingdom (UK) was left with a hand that resembled a’shark head.’ Sadie Kemp, 34, recounted her ordeal in a video she posted on her TikTok account.
Kemp had no idea the video would go viral. Since it was posted, it has been viewed over 75 million times.

“I wasn’t aware my hand was going to look like a shark’s head till it had actually been released from my abdomen,” The Mirror quoted her as saying.

Kemp’s problems started in December, when she went to the doctor after feeling a sharp pain in her abdomen and back. Kemp was sent home by the doctors after they prescribed some pain relievers.

On Christmas Day, the former healthcare worker was rushed to the hospital, where doctors decided to place her in an induced coma for two weeks. According to the Peterborough Telegraph, doctors diagnosed her with a kidney stone, and the infection began spreading in her body the next day, Boxing Day. The doctors then transferred Kemp to the emergency room to perform the kidney stone removal surgery.

According to the doctors, the kidney stone caused an infection, which in turn caused sepsis – a potentially fatal condition in which the body attempts to fight the infection while attacking its own tissues and organs.

Her fingers had to be amputated as a result of the doctors’ actions. They also sewed the hand into a pouch and into her abdomen to ensure that blood continued to flow through it.

“I looked at it for the first time and moved what was left of my thumb and I was just like, ‘Wow, it looks like a shark,'” Kemp was quoted by the New York Post as saying.

She, on the other hand, has taken the side effect in stride, even posting a video of herself singing “Baby Shark” with her hand. The internet has shifted as a result of this. “And still she can stay positive congratulations,” one Twitter user said.

Stephanie King, Kemp’s childhood friend, has set up a GoFundMe page to help support her family. As of Tuesday morning, it had raised more than $38,000.

Kemp is currently in Peterborough City Hospital, where she has been told that her other hand and both legs will have to be amputated below the knees.
