The image shared by the MP for the liberal Holos party shows an exposed chest covered in bruises and a big Swastika emblem burnt and carved into the flesh.

It’s unclear when or when the photograph of the woman’s branded body was shot.

However, a check on social media finds that pro-Russian sources previously claimed that Ukraine’s Azov Battalion carved the Swastika into the woman’s flesh near Mariupol.

The battalion is notorious for its ties to neo-Nazism and has been defending the city, but this version of events has been challenged by Ukrainian sources, which suggest Russians purposefully mangled the woman’s body.

Ms Vasylenko’s tweet came after Ukrainian forces recaptured territory from Putin’s forces, unearthing evidence of war crimes left behind.

‘Russian forces rob, rape, and murder… women with swastika burns.’ Russia. This was done by Russian males,’ Ms Vasylenko stated.

Images from Bucha and Irpin reveal the remains of hundreds of people left lying in the streets and buried in mass graves.

A scan of social media indicates that the photograph was first shared by pro-Russian accounts, which said the body was discovered near the city of Mariupol.

According to those reports, the corpse was discovered in the basement of a structure that had previously served as the barracks for the Azov Battalion, which is defending the city.

They stated that the Swastika was engraved by members of the battalion, which has been linked to neo-Nazism.

At the time of the initial tweets, around March 27, pro-Ukraine accounts retaliated, saying Russian soldiers mangled the body as part of a “false flag” operation to legitimise their invasion.

Putin has long claimed that one of the aims of his “special military operation” is to “de-Nazify” Ukraine, despite erroneously informing his troops that the nation is run by Nazis.

MailOnline was unable to confirm either claim.

The photograph surfaced amid calls for a war crimes probe conducted by prosecutors from the International Criminal Court in The Hague, following the discovery of shocking evidence of civilian killing in Russian-captured territory.

Ukrainian officials discovered the dead of at least 410 people in Bucha, 57 of whom were buried in a mass grave beneath a church.

Others have been discovered dead in the streets, some murdered with their wrists tied behind their backs, and others slain while riding their bicycles.

Several were discovered heaped on top of tyres, as if to be torched, while vehicles with ‘children’ written on the front and sides were discovered shot to bits.

According to Olexander Scherba, Ukraine’s former ambassador to Austria, who was quoting another local official, the remains displayed evidence of torture, including broken fingers and limbs.

The Ukrainian military released video of what seemed to be a ‘torture cell’ in a structure used as a barracks by Russian forces near Bucha.

Civilians’ bodies were lined up against a basement wall, kneeling, having been slain. According to the military, at least one person was shot through the knee before being killed.
