After a ludicrous fake story spreads on Twitter, Laura Woods slams “absolute doughnuts.”
Laura Woods has slammed Twitter users who questioned what she was doing when she suddenly disappeared from view while hosting talkSPORT breakfast earlier this week.
The Sky Sports broadcaster, who shares radio presenting duties with Alan Brazil, was recently on air in the studio with former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara, as well as ex-West Ham striker Trevor Sinclair, who joined them via video chat from his house.
To the delight of O’Hara, Woods can be seen falling out of view of the webcam for a few seconds in order to mask a yawn in a video that has gone viral.
However, after some insensitive jokes, Woods was suggested “”Sniffed a line,” the host tweeted late Thursday evening (April 21): “Bloody hell… You absolute doughnuts, I’m yawning. It’s a morning programme that’s being streamed live. Make a swaying motion with your heads.”
“Knew this been sticking up for you in the gc all night aha xxxxx,” an admirer responded.
“Twitter is a relentless a thread,” Woods said with a laughing emoji.
In 2020, Woods took up hosting responsibilities for talkSPORT Breakfast on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, with Brazil taking over on Thursdays and Fridays.
“The famous Alan Brazil has been in charge of the talkSPORT breakfast show for over 20 years, and I’m pleased to take over his mantle, waking up sports fans at the start of the week,” she stated at the time.
“I’ve had great fun filling in for big Al and being part of the talkSPORT family. Now on Monday to Wednesday, listeners can expect more big guests, sports chat and classic talkSPORT fun at breakfast.”
“After 20 years of early-morning beginnings, Monday to Friday, this is me entering semi-retirement,” Brazil said of his new post.
“On Thursdays and Fridays, I’ll be wreaking havoc on the radio.”
Woods has won the SJA Sports Presenter of the Year award on two occasions for her radio and television presenting abilities.
