Meaghan Kall, an epidemiologist with the UK Health Security Agency, said to the Mail+ earlier this year that she asked Princess Anne if they might “connect on Twitter” when she went to Windsor Castle last month for the Covid Unsung Heroes Awards honoring women in STEM. (Kall is a frequent tweeter who goes by the handle @kallmemeg.)
Anne responded to Kall as follows: “Oh my goodness, no! Even my email account is empty.”
Every year, Princess Anne, 71, represents the royal family at hundreds of events. She does not, however, have a dedicated social media account to share what she is doing, unlike her brother Prince Charles or her nephew Prince William. Instead, Anne’s activities are shared on the official royal family social media pages.
“Can you make out everyone? On your screen, there ought to be six individuals.” Asks the Queen, Anne.
The Queen answers, “Yes, well, I can see four anyway.”
Anne said in jest, “Okay, I get it. You don’t actually need me. You are aware of my appearance.”
Anne: The Princess Royal was featured in a documentary. Anne, who is now 70, discussed online connections. The opportunity to meet people, according to the Princess Royal, is what makes the difference when using internet technology. “Being in touch is one thing, but it’s not quite the same,” she remarked.
She also expressed how she detested social media. She jokingly said, “I mean, I know what Twitter is, but I wouldn’t go anywhere near it if you paid me. But that’s a little bit of a different problem.
