Last month, three major privacy-focused enhancements to WhatsApp were made by Mark Zuckerberg’s team. Quiet group exits, prohibiting screenshots in temporary messages, and obscuring the online status.

This newest feature is already available to some Android users.

According to WaBetaInfo, the Android beta versions of WhatsApp 2.22.20.7 and 2.22.20.9 will soon allow you to hide your online status.

There is currently no timeframe, but the global deployment will happen after, just like with any other experimental feature.

How you can test this new feature

In general, there is a probability that a new feature won’t make it into the stable version of WhatsApp if it first appears in the WhatsApp Beta Program.

It’s crucial to have the “hide online status” option. We will ultimately receive the update for our cellphones because Meta made the official announcement.

Because the global implementation of this new feature aimed at boosting privacy in the messaging app will eventually become a reality, it is exciting to evaluate what we have discovered in the beta and learn how it will work.

The selections in the Last seen section won’t change. We can choose from “Everyone,” “My contacts, except,” or “Nobody,” in other words.

But a new option called “Who can see when I’m online” will be available. Additionally, you have the option of “Everyone” or “Same as last seen”.
