LAHORE: Actress Sofia Mirza has filed a case against her former husband and Dubai-based businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor for harassment.
The actress has approached the court against her ex-husband and Pakistan-Norwegian Umar Farooq Zahoor, who recently came into the limelight for claiming to be the buyer of an expensive wristwatch and other items gifted to former prime minister Imran Khan.
In her application filed through her lawyer, Sofia Mirza claimed that she was being harassed by her former husband.
She urged the court to restrain the police and FIA from raiding her house at Zahoor’s behest. IG Punjab, CCPO Lahore, and DG FIA have been made respondents in the petition.
The application said Umar Farooq Zahoor used his influence to register a case against her in Islamabad. She said that Umar Farooq wants to file more cases against me. She claimed that Police and FIA are harassing her by raiding her house.
She alleged that Umar Farooq has taken her daughters abroad by fraud with the help of the immigration department.
She said several cases have been filed regarding the handover of the girls but police have failed to recover them. She said Zahoor’s national identity card of this person has also been blocked due to fraud cases She urged the court to issued orders to stop the police from harassing her.
Earlier, a case was registered against former special assistant to the prime minister on accountability Barrister Mirza Shahzad Akbar, actress Sofia Mirza and former Director-General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Sanaullah Abbasi.
They were booked under various provisions including fraud and record tampering. The complaint said Shahzad Akbar and former DG FIA prepared fake warrants against Umar Farooq Zahoor.
It said that Sofia Mirza, Shahzad Akbar and Sanaullah Abbasi filed false and bogus cases against the complainant. It further said the accused prepared bogus court documents and unlawfully used court records.
Zahoor alleged that Sofia Mirza ran a vindictive campaign against him. He claimed Akbar used the FIA for a malicious campaign against him.
