A Billionaire is Born: Mega Millions Lottery Jackpot Hits Record High
Over the course of more than two months, the jackpot has increased. The drawing on Friday was the sixth-largest in American history.
Due to the $940 million Mega Millions jackpot being unclaimed on Friday night, the next drawing will now be worth more than $1 billion.
According to game authorities, the estimated $1.1 billion jackpot for Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing has increased because no one won the top prize.
On Friday night, the numbers 3, 20, 46, 59, 63, and Mega Ball 13 were drawn.
The likelihood of winning the prize was a pitiful one in 302.6 million. The drawing on Friday night was the sixth-largest in American history.
Since Oct. 14, when the jackpot was $502 million, no one has won the Mega Millions top prize. According to game officials, tickets purchased in Florida and California were split.
The third-largest jackpot in the game’s history would be the $1.1 billion one. The $1.3 billion second-highest prize was obtained in July.
A South Carolina resident who bought the winning ticket in 2018 scooped the greatest Mega Millions prize, worth $1.5 billion. They took it as a lump sum of $877,784,124, which was before taxes, and made the decision to maintain their anonymity.
The $2.04 billion Powerball prize won in November was the biggest lottery jackpot ever won in the United States.
Along with Washington, D.C., 45 states participate in the Mega Millions lottery.
