- He also served as Additional Advocate-General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2010 to 2013.
- He will remain a judge of the Peshawar High Court till his superannuation on 2 January 2023.

Early Life and Education
Lal Jan Khattak was born on 3 January 1961 in the District Karak, NWFP (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).
He received his BA from University of Punjab. He later received his LL.B and LL.M law degrees from S.M. Law College, Karachi.
Legal Career
He started his legal career after enrolling as an Advocate of the Lower Courts in 1987 and started his law practice. His main interests focused on Federalism and Constitutional Law.
He enrolled as an Advocate of the Peshawar High Court in 1989. Several years later, he was enrolled as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2008.
Lal Jan Khattak remained General Secretary of Banda Daud Shah Bar Association for 1995-96. He served as President of Banda Daud Shah Bar Association for 1998-99.
Peshawar High Court
Justice Lal Jan Khattak was elevated to the Peshawar High Court Bench as Additional Judge on 26 March 2013. He became a permanent judge on 6 March 2014.
During his judicial career, he remained as Member of Subordinate Judiciary Service Tribunal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also served as Additional Advocate-General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2010 to 2013.
He will remain a judge of the Peshawar High Court till his superannuation on 2 January 2023.
