Early Life and Education
Omar Sial was born on 21st October 1969. He received his education from Karachi Grammar School. He did his graduation in Commerce from the University of Karachi in 1991.
He studied for a Bachelor of Law degree from S.M. Law College in Karachi and graduated in 1996. He departed for the United Kingdom and studied for a Master of Law degree from the University of Cambridge in 2001.
Omar Sial is a Lady Noon Scholar and a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust. He is the Pakistan Representative for Trinity Hall College of the University of Cambridge.
He is also a member of the research team of the Hauser Global Law School Program at the NYU Law School, New York.
Career
Justice Sial was admitted as an advocate of the District Courts of Sindh in March 1999 and as an advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan in March 2001.
Since 2003, Omar Sial worked in a pro bono capacity for juveniles who are in conflict with the law and victims of sexual abuse. He also raised awareness about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in Pakistan.
He had addressed seminars on child rights across Pakistan and has contributed to raising the matter among the lower judiciary.
Omar Sial is the co-founder and partner of Omar Sial & Associates, Advocates, and Counselor-at-Law in Karachi. The company has been providing legal advice and representation since 2013.
He was also a partner at Hasan & Sial law firm for two years. He was a Corporate Attorney at Cox Hallett Wilkinson, Barristers, in Bermuda for two years.
Apart from his private practice, he was appointed as a Special Prosecutor for the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in 2014 and continued till 30 November 2016.
Sindh High Court
Omar Sial was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Sindh High Court on 30 November 2016. He was confirmed as a judge of the Sindh High Court on 27th November 2017.
He was among five additional judges who took oath as Justice of the Sindh Court including Justice Fahim Ahmed Siddiqui, Justice Khadim Hussain Tunio, Justice Adnan-ul-Karim Memon, and Justice Yousuf Ali Sayeed.
He represents the Sindh High Court on the Syndicates of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto University of Medicine in Larkana, and the University of Sufism in Bhit Shah.
Justice Omar Sial is the Monitoring Judge of the Anti-Terrorism Courts in Sindh. He will retire on 20th October 2031.
