US President Donald Trump has last week ordered companies to stop doing businesses with the video-sharing platform within 45 days amid security concerns.
Sources quoted in the Wall Street Journal that it is not clear if Twitter can manage to purchase TikTok from its Chinese owners within the 45-day window.
According to the international news agency, Twitter’s market capitalization is around $29bn, dwarfed by Microsoft’s at more than $1.6tn. But the value of TikTok’s US operations is not yet clear.
