Finance Adviser holds discussion on wheat and sugar stocks in the provinces

Adviser on Finance Dr. Hafeez Shaikh has said that the government will put its best efforts to ensure the availability of essential items for consumers at affordable prices.

According to the details, Finance Adviser Dr. Hafeez Shaikh held a detailed discussion with the provincial chief secretaries regarding the position of wheat and sugar stocks in the provinces. Minister for Industries Hammad Azhar, Special Assistant on Revenue Dr. Waqar Masood, and federal secretaries attended the meeting while provincial chief secretaries joined via video link.

The meeting was informed that at present, sufficient quantities are available to meet existing demand. Adviser finance emphasized the provincial governments to ensure a smooth supply of essential items.

Dr. Hafeez Shaikh expressed satisfaction over the declining price trend in sugar, wheat flour, onion, and tomatoes as compared to October 2020.

In addition to this, the finance adviser Dr. Hafeez Shaikh stressed that provincial governments should work out a plan to ensure a smooth supply of perishable items in order to avoid any undue price increase.
