Mega Millions jackpot jumps to $565 million

The last time the jackpot was won was on October 14.  Tickets sold in California and Florida each won a share of $502 million. The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to a staggering $565 million because no ticket matched all six numbers drawn last week, the lottery said on Saturday.

Mega Millions said in a news release on its website that if someone wins the next drawing, the prize would be the sixth largest in the game’s 20-year history.

On Friday night, the numbers drawn were 15, 21, 32, 38, 62, and the gold Mega Ball 8. No ticket matched all six winning numbers, but two tickets sold in California and Illinois matched five of them and won the second-biggest prize.

According to the news release, the third-level prize was won by 31 tickets in the U.S. that matched four numbers and the Mega Ball.

The last person to win the Mega Millions jackpot was on October 14. Tickets sold in California and Florida each won a share of $502 million.

Since Mega Millions began selling tickets 20 years ago, there have been 11 jackpots of $500 million or more, and three of them have been more than $1 billion.

The current record jackpot for this game is $1.537 billion. It was won on Oct. 23, 2018, by a lucky ticket buyer in South Carolina.
