Chicken and egg prices continue to rise in Punjab
The prices of chicken and eggs on Saturday reached a whopping hike....
The residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are grappling with a significant increase in the prices of poultry, reaching Rs 432 per kg in the open market.
This surge has intensified over the past few months, with the meat of poultry chicken hitting a staggering Rs626 per kg, according to the latest data from the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
Market surveys conducted in the twin cities reveal a striking 35% rise in the price of poultry chicken and a parallel 30% increase in the cost of poultry eggs during the same period.
Dr. Sajjad Arshad, the former Chairman of the Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA), attributes the surge to demand and supply imbalances.
He emphasizes that the rise in input costs and the overall cost of doing business have created a crisis in the poultry market nationwide, affecting various stakeholders.
