The total number of positive novel coronavirus cases in the country has surged to 119, 536 with recorded 2356 deaths.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), record 5,834 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Till now 45,463 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 43,709 in Sindh, 15,206 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7,335 in Balochistan, 6,236 in Islamabad, 1,018 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 488 in Azad Kashmir.

Deaths

34 new deaths were recorded in Punjab and five more deaths were reported by Islamabad.

Furthermore, 841 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 738 in Sindh, 619 in KP, 73 in Balochistan, 62 in Islamabad, 14 in GB and 9 in Azad Kashmir.

Patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available. 317,893 coronavirus tests have been conducted in Punjab till date. The current testing capacity in the province now stands at 10,000.

Recoveries

683 people more recovered in the past 24 hours bringing the national tally of recoveries to 38395.

836 health care workers test positive in Punjab

836 healthcare workers have been found to be infected with COVID out of 4,116 tested till date in Punjab.

Shehbaz Sharif, Khurram Sher Zaman test positive for COVID-19

PML-N president and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and President of PTI Karachi chapter and member Sindh Assembly Khurram Sher Zaman has also tested positive for Covid-19.

The PML-N president had appeared before the National Accountability Bureau on Tuesday in connection with investigations pertaining to money laundering and income-beyond-means.

Global Coronavirus 

More than 7.38 million people have been reported infected with the novel coronavirus globally and over 415,000 have died.
