LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has scheduled the hearing for today on the petition filed by PML-Q against the denotification of CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi by Governor Punjab.
A five-member bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh has been formed by the LHC chief justice to hear the petition against the denotification of the CM and dissolution of the cabinet.
Earlier, a petition was filed in the Lahore High Court by Barrister Ali Zafar, the lawyer of Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, which consists of five pages challenging the development.
It was argued that the Governor of Punjab misinterpreted Article 130 sub-section 7 of the Constitution, the Governor of Punjab misused the powers and de-notified the Chief Minister.
It was stated in the position that the Governor of Punjab had no authority to take any action after the speaker’s ruling, the governor gave an unconstitutional order to call a second session for the vote of confidence in the ongoing session.
Pertinently, the CM Punjab was asked by the Governor to take a vote of confidence and upon his failure, a notification was issued by Governor Baligh ur Rehman late at night on Thursday.
