Stars are just like us! Kristen Stewart performed the most relatable stunt of all time at the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 27, involving a pair of uncomfortable shoes.

“Kristen Stewart immediately changed out of heels and into flats as soon as she stepped off the red carpet,” tweeted Los Angeles Times entertainment writer Amy Kaufman. “Amen, lady. #Oscars.”

The actress, 31, arrived at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater wearing a custom Chanel ensemble. She wore a black blazer over an unbuttoned white shirt and itty-bitty shorts instead of a dress or suit. She accessorised with a long necklace and pointy-toed pumps. However, she quickly replaced the aforementioned heels with a pair of black Chanel loafers.

Twitter users have chimed in with their thoughts on the wardrobe change. “She represents all of us, and I am here to support her,” one person said. “I saw that and saluted her for keeping it real,” wrote another.

This isn’t the first time Stewart has ditched her heels at a high-profile event. At the screening of BlacKkKlansman at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, the Los Angeles native posed on the carpet in a pair of sky-high Christian Louboutin stilettos before slipping them off and carrying up the festival steps barefoot. Her reasoning was to protest the rumoured “black tie” dress code for the French film festival, which apparently prohibits female attendees from wearing flats.

Stewart had previously spoken out in the media about the festival’s double standard. “There’s definitely a dress code, right?” she explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “If you don’t wear heels or whatever, people get very upset.” I don’t think you can ask people that anymore; it’s assumed. You can’t ask me to wear heels and a dress if you’re not asking guys.”

“Even four years ago, it was not even a question, you have to wear a dress,” she continued. “But now, it’s awesome. You can’t do that anymore!”
