A Quiet Place will have a prequel, according to Paramount Pictures, who announced the news at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
The next instalment in the horror franchise will be titled A Quiet Place: Day One, according to the company.
Audiences will be transported back to the beginning of the story, learning about what happened when Earth was conquered by blind aliens with remarkable sensitivity to even the smallest sounds.
Another significant change for the third instalment is that John Krasinski will not be directing the film.
A Quiet Place: Day One, directed by Michael Sarnoski, will be a spin-off of the original film.
Sarnoski’s most recent film was Pig, which starred Nicolas Cage and received a stunning 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite the fact that Krasinski will not be directing the film, there is a chance he will reprise his role as Lee Abbott, the ultimate father.
We watched Lee and Evelyn Abbott’s (Emily Blunt) reactions when the creatures first came down from above in Quiet Place — Part II.
Of course, they fought alongside their children Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and Marcus for survival (Noah Jupe).
However, rumours have been circulating that the prequel will not contain any of the original cast members.
“The hope is this film would help set up a potential Quiet Place universe that the studio can build on for years to come,” Deadline reported.
“It is also known that, while not out of the question, Emily Blunt and Krasinski likely would not reprise their roles in this instalment.”
This news will undoubtedly send fans into a frenzy, with fans guessing on what the new film would contain if it does not follow the Abbott family’s well-established characters.
According to SlashFilm, some speculate that the all-new plot will transport viewers to a completely new location in the Quiet Place universe, complete with new characters and a fresh point of view.
But it’s not a complete leap into the unknown.
For lovers of the first A Quiet Place, there is also a continuation of the plot with the same cast on the way.
Krasinski is set to direct A Quiet Place — Part III, the fourth film in the trilogy (but only the third instalment).
The third instalment of A Quiet Place is set to be released in 2025.
There is currently no release date for A Quiet Place: Day One.
All that’s left for fans to do now is turn up the volume on the gossip mill and start the theorising.
