In ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, Kartik Aaryan answers to comparisons to Akshay Kumar

Kartik Aaryan has reacted to parallels between his performance in the upcoming film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and that of Akshay Kumar, who played the protagonist in the previous iteration.

At the trailer premiere of the film, the Dhamaka actor was questioned if he felt ‘under pressure’ to perform in the sequel, despite the fact that his performance in the original film is still recognised as one of his finest.

“I never meant to draw this connection,” the 31-year-old claimed, adding, “I never wanted to draw this similarity.” It’s something that shouldn’t be done.”

“In Bhool Bhulaiyaa, I adored Akshay Kumar. I’ve known him since I was a child, and we’ve all known him since we were children.

He said, “Woh comparison kabhi naa hi karein toh better hai (It’s better if you don’t compare us),” adding, “It’s better if you don’t compare us.”

“We have taken that universe (from the previous film), but everything else is fresh, of our own,” the actor stated. I’m hoping that people will like it in the new dynamic universe that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has created.”

“There will be comparisons,” he added, “but I hope people remember this picture for its own sake.”

Kiara Advani, Tabu, and Rajpal Yadav star in the horror comedy. The film will be released in theatres on May 20, 2022.
