Viola Davis confesses that she prayed to God for Julius Tennon, her husband: ‘I Want a Big Black Man,’ she says

In a recent interview, Viola Davis stated that she got down on her knees to beg to God for a spouse with specific traits, and that she met Julius Tennon, who possessed the identical qualities she had requested.

In a clip from the forthcoming Oprah + Viola: A Netflix Special Event, the First Lady star told Oprah Winfrey that a friend urged her to pray for the man she desired in her life.

“He said, ‘Viola, even the vapid things, just throw it all in there,” the actor added. ‘Everything,’ says the narrator.’

“‘Really?’ I exclaimed. Is it with God? ‘Do I have to tell him that?’ Davis reminisced about their chat. “‘Yes,’ he says. You have to put everything out there.’ ‘Be careful,’ he warned.

“And I went and I got down on my knees and I did,” she said. Because I don’t want any pressure in that aspect, I stated I want a large Black man from the South who’s probably been married before and has kids.”

“Someone who has maybe been an actress who knows the creative community,” Viola said of the attributes she desired in her spouse. “Someone who attends church and is devout to God.”
“‘If you give it to me, God, I’ll start attending to church.’ I swear I’ll do it. The 56-year-old actor added, “I’m committed to it.” “And then, just like a letter, I signed off.”

After then, Davis met the guy of her dreams. “She stated,” she said “I met Julius from Texas three and a half weeks later. He was an actor and an ex-football player who was married and raised his children on his own.”

“(He) asked me to church,” I said “she came to a conclusion “And I thought to myself, ‘Whoa,'” says the narrator.

In 2003, the actress married her spouse, John Lennon. Genesis Tennon, the couple’s daughter, was born to them.
