When Camilla Cabello began working on her album Familia, she was open about her nervousness.

The Seorita singer spoke up about her mental health struggles in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, claiming she couldn’t ‘function’ and how it forced her to seek therapy.

“It was a couple months when I didn’t go back in the studio,” Cabello explained. I had just finished a session of counselling. I couldn’t do anything because I couldn’t function. I was unable to work. And I met a therapist who spoke to me in a way that I could understand.”

“And stepping into the studio and saying, ‘I’m not going to do it if it’s not pleasurable,’ was a big part of that healing.” This isn’t going to be a show. It’s too much for me. “I literally won’t do it,” said the 25-year-old singer.

“It needs to be something that makes me feel better and improve because I can’t let this become a source of concern or stress for me.” “I’m not going to do that.”

“And that’s why, for me, it was so vital to be among others,” the singer said, explaining how anxiousness caused her to isolate herself. Not to mention the music. ‘I need to be able to trust and feel secure with the individuals with whom I’m producing this music,’ I just thought. I need to be able to discuss these issues. ‘I must be able to…’

“It really boiled down to what we’re all striving for outside of being artists, which is connection with other people.” And I believe that mental health issues may cause you to isolate, which then exacerbates your mental health. And it’s like a terrible loop,” she continued.

The singer, on the other hand, stated that she is now in a lot better position in terms of anxiety and mental health, claiming that it is the best she has ever been.

Cabello went on to say that working on the record was a “life-changing” experience for her.
