Idris Elba Takes On Savage Lion In Beast Trailer

What’s that sound coming from the woods? Is that… a lion? It’s a lion, obviously. But not any lion will do. This lion is hell-bent on destroying any human who stands in its path, as revealed in the frightening new Beast video. Idris Elba’s Dr. Nate Samuels and his two daughters Norah (Leah Jeffries) and Meredith (Iyana Halley), as well as their safari guide Martin Battles, are the humans in question (Sharlto Copley). Nate and his daughters are travelling to South Africa to reconcile following the death of their mother, Nate’s wife. Unfortunately, they get a lot more than they bargained for when they come upon a renegade lion who has been spurred into a killing rampage by poachers who have killed its pride. Baltasar Kormákur, who has directed Adrift (people vs. hurricane in a boat), Everest (people vs. storm up a mountain), and The Deep, is no stranger to survival stories (fisherman vs. freezing ocean). Ryan Engle of Rampage is on board as a co-writer, albeit the titular agitated animal is pleasantly normal-sized this time.

Beast will be released in UK theatres on August 26, 2022, and empireonline.com will have a trailer analysis with director Baltasar Kormákur soon.
