Jonathan Bailey of Bridgerton saved thong he used to film “traumatising” scene

Jonathan Bailey, who starred in Bridgerton, has disclosed that he saved the “modesty thong” he wore in the bathtub scene.

When season two of Netflix’s Regency-era series debuted, fans fell in love with Bailey’s portrayal of Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, as the show tracked the growing romance between Anthony and Miss Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

Of course, Bridgeton wouldn’t be Bridgeton without the steamy encounters, and while season two had fewer than the previous season, there was one incident in particular that “traumatised” Bailey, and what followed after only added to the awkwardness.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the actor remembered the day he shot the scene in the bath where Anthony is thinking about Kate.

“There was actually a camera in the water between my legs looking back at me,” he laughed. “So it was almost like a water birth. And I remember afterwards, I was so appalled at myself over the day that we had experienced and so confused, because you can’t really explain it to anyone.”

He went on to say that he unintentionally wore his modesty thong to the pub after shooting the scene since he was embarrassed and raced away.

“It was just when the rules changed and you could go meet people outside, so I went to a pub that night and had a pint with my mates,” he said.

“When I got up to get the second round, I was like, ‘I’m chafing a bit’. And I realised I still had my modesty thong on, because I was so traumatised and I ran so quickly from set that I hadn’t even taken off my little pouch.”

He wasn’t willing to part with the souvenir, either.

“I still have it to this day,” he added.

Despite the fact that season three will focus on Penelope and Colin, alias Polin, fans will be pleased to learn that Kate and Anthony will be back, and the duo will play a key part.

Sex Education’s Ashley told Deadlines: “We’re going to be back! Kate and Anthony are just getting started.

“In season 2, there was a lot of push and pull between Kate and Anthony, there were complications with the family, and then they find each other towards the end. I think everything is just starting. I’d like to see Kate just let go a bit more and play more in season 3 and kind of swim in that circle of love together. I think they both deserve it.”
