V from BTS recalls being ‘confused’ about his identity: ‘I had to pick one or the other.’

BTS vocalist V, real name Kim Taehyung, recently opened up about having self-doubts and how the K-pop idol’s struggles influenced his song selection for the band’s upcoming Proof.

Big Hit Music released a video on Twitter of the 26-year-old singer discussing his motivations behind the 2018 solo track Singularity, which will be re-released as part of an upcoming set.

“I used to think of Kim Taehyung and artist V as separate entities, and I thought I had to choose one or the other,” he admitted in the video.

“That was when I really thought about who I was as a person, and I was a little confused,” he said.

“Artist V performs on stage and has a good time with ARMY.” Kim Taehyung, on the other hand, spends ordinary days with family and friends,” Taehyung continued.

“I’m now able to accept both sides of myself while also keeping them separate,” he explained.

“I think all this time I spent pondering is proof that I became who I am today,” he said.
