At a surprise pre-release showing for Disney and Pixar’s upcoming film Lightyear, in which he stars, Chris Evans delighted young hospital patients.

On Monday, patients and their families at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital were greeted by the celebrity at a showing in the hospital’s CW+ MediCinema, one of the charity’s six in-hospital cinemas across the UK.

The former Captain America star spent time with child patients, signing posters and chatting with them and their families before attending the London premiere that evening.

The film’s voiceover then presented the showing, which is set to be released on June 17 – putting the patients among the first in the UK to see it.

Milena, the mother of a patient named Michael, said her son’s experience was one he’ll never forget.

‘Seeing Michael’s astonishment and delight when Chris walked into the MediCinema screening is something I will never forget – and neither will he,’ she said.
