Shah Rukh Khan is arguably the most well-known actor in the planet. It’s no surprise that he’s run across A-listers from all around the world on a regular basis. On the occasion of Angelina Jolie’s 47th birthday, we remember a time when the Hollywood star had her Bollywood moment with the King of Bollywood.

This was also the first-ever IIFA awards presentation, which took place in the Millennium Dome in London. At the time, Yukta Mookhey and Anupam Kher hosted the event. Angelina Jolie, dressed in an orchid pink gown and clutching Shah Rukh’s hand, took the stage to present an award.

Taking a seat on the dais, SRK said, “Good evening, once again. This is really, really nice. And yes, more so now, because I’m in the company of Angelina.”

“Namaste, India,” Angelina said after being prodded by Shah Rukh.

Shah Rukh was announced as the winner without further ado, however Aishwarya Rai was unable to attend. Sanjay Leela Bhansali accepted the award on her behalf, but Shah Rukh summoned him back with his unique charm before he could leave the stage.  He said, making Angelina chuckle, “We have to make sure Angelina knows this isn’t Aishwarya Rai.”

Angelina Jolie, on the other hand, is no stranger to India. Her first trip to India was in 2006 to film A Mighty Heart, which featured Indian actors such as Irrfan Khan. Jolie was spotted doing touristy things like riding in an auto-rickshaw. At the time, she had also encountered Afghan and Burmese refugees.

The actress recently stated during a promotion for her next film Eternals that she has a special connection to India and wishes to visit soon. She told the media, “I don’t know if it’s the density of the population, but there is this (feeling of) humanity which is very present. Be it on the trains or in the streets, you feel right (when you are) together. I felt a part of the country. I felt the energy, the intensity and the humanity. I would like to come back again soon.”
