Returning to the big screen is the latest indication that Johnny Depp will resume his career in full swing.

After prevailing in a defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard, the Hollywood actor’s career appears to be on the rise as he employs a sound strategy.

The actor was always going to emerge from the Heard-Depp legal debacle with an abundance of employment chances. He has collaborated with Jeff Beck, landed a seven-figure contract with Dior, will star in a new film as King Louis XV, and will now direct for the first time in more than two decades.

Fans speculate that Johnny Depp could reprise his role as the infamous dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

While Danish actor Dittmann Mikkelsen has since been quoted as saying that Depp may return and reprise his role as Grindelwald, Depp may return to the role.

When asked what it was like to portray Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts, Mikkelsen told Deadline that “It was very intimidating.”

“Obviously, well, now the course has changed—he won the suit, the court [case]—so let’s see if he comes back. He might. I’m a big fan of Johnny. I think he’s an amazing actor, I think he did a fantastic job. Having said that, I could not copy it. There’s there was no way I could just copy it, because it’s so much him. It would be creative suicide.”

It is currently unknown whether Depp, 59, would reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the film. After the Depp vs. Heard trial, however, popular opinion has significantly moved in the actor’s favour, to the point where many have expressed interest in seeing him reprise his role in the picture.

Two Pirates of the Caribbean films are currently under production. The first is the upcoming sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film. The second film in development will feature Margot Robbie as the protagonist and is unrelated to the prior films.
