‘Jesus Revolution’ is a story about shattering stereotypes and opening hearts, minds, and doors in the midst of a generational and national divide from the writers of 2018’s I Can Only Imagine.

Prior to the general release of the movie in theatres on Friday, February 24, 2023, Lionsgate has unveiled a brand-new trailer for the upcoming work based on real-life events.

Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney), a young man searching for purpose in life in 1970, is the main character of Jesus Revolution.

He encounters two people he thinks can help him: Pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer), a man who has a negative attitude of hippies and is looking for a way to expand his struggling church, and Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie), a dynamic hippie street preacher.

Despite their disagreements, the two pastors team up with the idea of revitalising Chuck’s church by inviting hippies to the sermons, which comes as a culture shock to many of the more traditional churchgoers.

With time, the two sides begin to reconcile, giving rise to a brand-new movement known as a “revival of radical and renewed love.” The known magazine referred to this campaign as a “Jesus Revolution” in 1971.

The new teaser shows Lonnie and the church teaming together and formulating their plans to invite hippies to his church.

Although Chuck makes it very clear that the door he has opened for them is equally available for anyone who wants to leave, we witness several of the regulars at the floundering church voice their concerns about the new attendees.

In the 2-minute, 5-second clip, Chuck states, “This is your home, and I want you to tell all your friends about it,” implying that his church is primarily for individuals who might feel judged or misunderstood.

The Jesus Revolution ensemble also features Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Anna Grace Barlow as addition to Roumie, Grammer, and Courtney.

Brent McCorkle and Jon Erwin are the film’s directors. Erwin co-wrote the screenplay for the movie with Jon Gunn, and he also acts as one of its writers.

On February 24, 2023, Jesus Revolution will have its theatrical debut. On February 22, a special preview screening of the movie will also take place.
