In the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which launched the MCU’s holiday season, Drax and Mantis choose to give Peter’s childhood hero Kevin Bacon a Christmas present.

The new Guardians special is hilarious, has an overabundance of emotions at its core, and is full of all the happiness and cheer we could ever want.

Actor Chris Pratt provided some fantastic behind-the-scenes footage from the filming to commemorate the debut of the new special.

The actor appears to be in character in the first video, gazing in awe at the brightly illuminated set that is decorated for Christmas.

Another video depicts Bacon chatting amiably with Old97 band members, who were featured in the film as extraterrestrial musicians on Knowhere.

Pom Klementieff is also depicted wearing the hilarious ugly Christmas jumper that comes with the Mantis outfit in its whole. “Just a few sneak looks behind the scenes filming our Holiday Special with none other than Legendary Hero Kevin Bacon,” the actor stated, expressing his delight.

After hearing the sad tale of how Yondu wrecked Christmas, Drax and Mantis travel to Earth to retrieve Bacon in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which plays out like a buddy comedy.

While the rest of the ensemble makes commendable cameos, Bacon, Klementieff, and Dave Bautista effectively carry the special.

While filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, James Gunn had the idea for the holiday special and offered it as the first Disney+ release. James Gunn, not surprisingly, created the script in just three days.

It was filmed concurrently with the upcoming Vol 3. Following the group’s brief appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, the film serves as a prequel to the future film by establishing the Guardians’ centre of operations in Knowhere, revealing fresh information about their shared ties, and giving us a swoll Groot!

The forthcoming film will be the last for the director and his group of cosmic misfits in the MCU due to Gunn’s increasing obligations as co-chair and CEO of DC Studios.

Gunn previously disclosed that he was obliged to write the story of Vol 3 because of Rocket’s character arc and his love for the character.

The holiday special stars Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, and Kevin Bacon as a fictionalised version of himself.

Disney+ is already streaming the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and Vol. 3 will be available on May 5. Check out the BTS pictures and videos below:
