‘Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’ teases a featurette

• Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will debut on Disney+ streaming December 25th.

Star-Lord and his merry band of intergalactic misfits will return to our screens in one week for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, making their small-screen debut and bringing holiday pleasure to all even if it isn’t even December yet.

Marvel, however, has made a new featurette that details the process of making the special available as a special early Christmas gift.

President of Marvel Kevin Feige, CEO of DC Studios James Gunn, writer/director/madcap genius James Gunn, and star Chris Pratt are also featured in the video.

Feige, in an unexpected turn of events, makes the startling admission that the holiday special was the first Marvel project to be suggested for Disney+ streaming.

More than two years before to the introduction of the streaming service, during the 2017 filming of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Gunn is credited with having the idea. Fans of the Guardians and Marvel may find it less unexpected that Gunn completed the special’s script in just three days.

In the featurette, Gunn claims that working with the people he views as his Marvel family was nothing short of “joyful,” and Pratt claims that the cast and crew members felt the same way backstage as they did on camera.

In a recent interview with news source, Gunn described the special as “a piece of crazy fun that the Guardians needed as an aperitif for Volume 3, which is a huge blockbuster.”

I started out with a plan in mind. Because I adore Rocket’s character more than any other character I’ve ever dealt with, I felt the need to complete his story, which is what Volume 3 is all about. I felt like we did it in such a beautiful way that I can’t wait for others to see it. I had to do it.

Pratt reprises his role as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the special alongside Kevin Bacon, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Maria Bakalova, and Karen Gillan (as himself).

In order to cheer up a depressed Peter Quill, the Guardians of the Galaxy decide to travel to Earth around Christmastime and attempt to capture the actor Kevin Bacon, who was Quill’s childhood hero.

On November 25, the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be available on Disney+. You can see the featurette below.
