“The film does correct the record. In a brand-new interview with “Extra” that aired Thursday, Davis admitted that they did had a one-year teenage affair.
In the biopic starring British actress Naomi Ackie as Houston and Stanley Tucci as the famed music executive, Davis is a producer.
The movie, which had its debut on Friday, charts Houston’s meteoric rise to fame as well as the highs and lows of her private life, including motherhood, her drug addiction, and her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.
Davis told “Extra” that one reason the movie focused on her connection with Crawford was because “so many articles had tried to trace her addiction to being a frustrated lesbian — that she never dated a man before she met Bobby, all of which was utterly untrue.”
Since Houston’s demise in 2012, the rumour has been addressed previously. In her 2019 memoir “A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston,” Crawford additionally acknowledged that she and Houston had a sexual relationship.
Crawford describes her first kiss with Houston as being “long and warm like honey” in the book. She writes, “As we eased out of it, our eyes locked, my anxieties shot up, and my pulse raced.”

When Houston began putting more of an emphasis on her singing career in 1982, Crawford and Houston’s physical connection came to an end. Jermaine Jackson, who is also mentioned in the movie, whom she later dated. 1992 saw her union with Brown.
What do you suppose Houston would have thought of the movie? She and I pretty much agreed on everything. I’m proud, and I think Whitney would be too,” Davis said in closing.
