Elton John reveals his foundation’s “Greatest Joys” on AIDS Day
Elton John discussed the 30th anniversary of his AIDS Foundation and discussed why his job is far from done in an exclusive interview. “We need to normalize the conversation.”
Sir Elton John is aware of the admiration and influence that his work has received.
The Grammy winner has made the Elton John AIDS Foundation a strong force in boosting access to HIV testing, prevention, and care for more than 30 years through the use of his voice.
Elton also highlighted that more effort needs to be done to make sure no one is left behind before December 1st, when World AIDS Day will be observed.
Elton told in an exclusive interview that “we need to keep up the energy, momentum, and debate around HIV so it doesn’t feel like something in the past.”
The Elton John AIDS Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness and putting an end to AIDS by 2030 through working with local partners, governments, and large-scale initiatives.
Elton contends that it’s important to “normalize the conversation” about safe sexual behaviour, what HIV is, and how to manage it with family and friends.
“It’s astounding to remember that the Foundation I started at my kitchen table in Atlanta 30 years ago is now an internationally recognized organization for HIV care and prevention,” Elton said. “We are proud to be the second largest HIV philanthropic funder of LGBTQ populations globally.”
“To witness and be a part of the growth of the Foundation has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” the 75-year-old continued.
In honour of the singer’s spectacular performance Nov. 22 in New York City to help reveal the luxury retailer’s famed Christmas displays, Saks gave $1 million to the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Rocket Fund.
Elton claims that the fund is a multi-year initiative with a focus on the LGBTQ+ community and sponsoring important impact areas.
“This campaign will expand and mobilize our mission for the rights and health of everyone, everywhere, and bring us closer to ending the AIDS epidemic and the stigma associated with it,” he told “Over the last 30 years, we’ve grown so much and gathered support to increase our income from less than $1 million a year at the very beginning to over $25 million annually today.”
