Ginny and Georgia have officially returned! The coming-of-age drama about a chaotic mother-daughter relationship has been renewed for a second season for more than a year.

The lull that followed had fans worried about the show’s future, but there’s finally some good news. Netflix announced today that the series will return on January 5th.

The streamer has also rewarded our patience by releasing a slew of first-look photos from the upcoming second season, teasing what’s to come after the cliffhanger ending of the first season.

While the pilot episode revealed Georgia’s involvement in her husband Kenny’s death, it remained a mystery to her daughter Ginny until the Season 1 finale.

This unsettling discovery drove Ginny and her younger brother Austin away from home, as both were seen riding away on a bike to an unknown destination without Georgia’s knowledge.

Netflix has now revealed that the upcoming season will pick up just two weeks after that incident and provide answers to Ginny’s questions about how she deals with the forbidden knowledge, especially since her mother had a legitimate reason for killing Kenny.

Many familiar faces appear in the images, including Marcus, Ginny’s love interest, who is seen with Ginny, teasing a continuation of their somewhat erratic romance.

Ginny’s ex-boyfriend Hunter, whom she cheated on with Marcus, also appears, suggesting a possible love triangle. Despite her emotional turmoil, the photos show Ginny acting like a normal adolescent, returning to school and reuniting with her MANG — her group of best friends.

Georgia may take a third trip down the aisle in the new season, following her engagement to the town Mayor, Paul, with whom she was seen sharing a moment.

The show also stars Diesel La Torraca, Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, Raymond Ablack, Chelsea Clark, and Katie Douglas, in addition to Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry as Georgia and Ginny, respectively. Angela Nissel wrote Ginny & Georgia, which was created by Sarah Lampert, who also serves as executive producer.

Along with Jeff Tahler, Jenny Daly, Holly Hines, Daniel March, Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron, and Armand Leo, Debra J. Fisher (Being Mary Jane) serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Ginny & Georgia Season 2 will consist of ten hour-long episodes and will premiere on Netflix on January 5, 2023.

The following is the official Ginny & Georgia Season 2 synopsis:

“How do you live with the knowledge that your mother is a murderer? That’s what Ginny is going to have to figure out. Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny – her step-dad – didn’t die of natural causes, now Ginny must deal with the fact that Georgia not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny. Georgia on the other hand would much prefer that the past be left in the past, after all, she’s got a wedding to plan! But the funny thing about Georgia’s past is that it never stays buried for long…”
