Gina Rodriguez is a working mom pro.

The Jane the Virgin alum is preparing for her first child with husband Joe LoCicero and her new series Not Dead Yet.

“That’s life,” the 38-year-old actress says. “It’s everywhere, simultaneously, right? The movie’s title is so apt for reality.”

“Everything. Everything happens simultaneously. To let go, “Continuing, “Sometimes releasing. Sometimes, too much clutching.”

Rodriguez strives to embrace life’s ups and downs “In it, you feel alive. I like it.”

Nell Serrano is fresh off a split and returning to her California roots in her new series. She feels disillusioned and stuck when she returns to her former company in a new career, but she’s not prepared for how her life will change.

Rodriguez says making the show has been “phenomenal and gigantic”

“I adore playing a damaged character who wants to feel better or be happy,” she says. “You’ll learn in the series what led her to this new path. That’s awesome.”

Rodriguez explains, “It’s about self-reflection, progress, companionship, and self-healing.” She also teases that Not Dead Yet will be emotional.

“It’s funny and sad. Everyone has their unique experience, but they help each other “Continuing, “I want to watch TV that lets me escape but also makes me excited at the end. It’s encouraging. Since years, I’ve been there.”

Being in this series has made Rodriguez reflect on how she lives her own life, especially when it comes to enjoying what’s in front of her.

“This is something I’ve been working on for years, but the pandemic has accelerated it,” she says. “Accepting the story life is telling rather than the one I want or think it should be telling. I’ve been living life to the fullest this way.”
