‘Gran Turismo’ racers shares new image as filming wraps

Gran Turismo stunt racers, Ollie Millroy and Mauro Calo, recently announced through Twitter that Neill Blomkamp’s planned film adaptation of the well-known video game series has finished filming.

Both Millroy and Calo have posted text and pictures from behind-the-scenes about their experiences making the movie.

Race car driver and stuntman Millroy has worked on a number of movies, including Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and London Has Fallen. The movies Wonder Woman 1984 and Jurassic World: Dominion both featured stuntman Calo. In November 2022, Gran Turismo began filming in Hungary.

Millroy published four photographs of the Gran Turismo stunt squad along with the following text: “That’s a wrap on Gran Turismo Movie after 7 weeks of working on the awesome stunt team. Loved every minute and looking forward to seeing the finished product.”

Calo also posted four photographs, including one of the slate used to film Gran and three that show a stunt car that was used on the set. Calo posted the pictures along with the following text: “That’s a wrap on 7 weeks filming around the world on the fastest film ever made. The GranTurismo movie. From +35 degrees to -5 my incredible @Nissan GTR camera car performed faultlessly. We broke new grounds on how to film race cars actually racing. Incredible journey.”

Gran  appears to be an exciting action film featuring some of the most outrageous car racing moments ever captured on camera, according to Millroy and Calo’s tweets.

Based on a true story, Gran will follow a young fan of the Gran video game franchise as he utilizes the games to prepare for a career as a racing car driver.

Archie Madekwe, David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Darren Barnet, Djimon Hounsou, Geri Halliwell, Daniel Puig, Josha Stradowski, Thomas Kretschmann, and Emelia Hartford are among the cast members of Blomkamp’s movie, which also stars Jason Hall and Zach Baylin on the screenplay.

The racing simulator game series has sold more than 90 million units worldwide since the initial Turismo game debuted in 1997, making it PlayStation’s most successful gaming franchise ever.

The most recent instalment in the franchise, Gran Turismo 7, is one of a total of eight titles. Although the audience response to the game was mixed because of its extensive grinding and inclusion of microtransactions, the game received positive reviews from critics.

Gran Turismo 7 nevertheless broke the record for the highest launch month sales for a Turismo game in the United States. Sony Pictures Releasing presently has Gran Turismo set for an August 11, 2023, theatrical debut.
