Mrunal Thakur says no one in India saw Love Sonia when it was released. Sita Ramam, Mrunal Thakur’s first film in the Telugu industry, was a huge success.

Hanu Raghavapudi served as the director of the movie, which also featured Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role. On August 5th, 2022, Sita Ramam was theatrically released in Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. The movie had a successful opening weekend and was one of the highest-grossing Telugu movies of 2022. Recently, Rishab Shetty, Adivi Sesh, Vidya Balan, Anil Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Mrunal were honoured as performers of the year.

Mrunal was asked how it feels to move on when a movie is well received by those who have seen it but the box office results don’t match during one of the chats. The actress responded, “My debut film was Love Sonia. At the time the movie was released, no one had at least watched it in India, but I felt a strong emotional connection to it. The movie received a lot of praise when we first started playing it in Melbourne, America, Uzbekistan, and regions of Asia.

Mrunal continued, “I wondered why it wasn’t well received in my own country, and that’s when I understood perhaps people weren’t ready to watch that movie at that time. Even now, when I portray Sonia, people recognize me as Sonia. Moving on from the idea that it hurts to miss a good movie is impossible. Rajkummar Rao, Manoj Bajpayee, Riya Sisodiya, Freida Pinto, Demi Moore, Richa Chadda, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain, and Sai Tamhankar also acted in Love Sonia.

The Dhamaka actress will next be seen in Pippa, a film starring Ishaan Khatter and Priyanshu Painyuli. She co-stars in the Hindi version of the Tamil film Thadam, Gumraah, with Aditya Roy Kapur.
