New ‘Avatar’ featurette invites you to rediscover Pandora
Avatar: The Way of Water, the long-awaited sequel to the film that more than a decade ago changed cinema forever with its groundbreaking special effects and never-before-seen images, is about to hit theatres.
The second sequel is set more than 10 years after the events of the first film, in keeping with the amount of time that has elapsed in actual life.
The focus will be on Jake Sully’s (Sam Worthington) living in a newly threatened Pandora with his partner Neytiri (Zoe Saldaa) and their young children.
Audiences have been clamoring for any information on James Cameron’s epic after hearing that Avatar: The Way of Water will be released soon.
IMAX has since released a documentary that explores the cast’s opinions on the upcoming release. “Jim is really adept at upping the ante, and that’s what he does best,” “Worthington praised Cameron for his skill. “He was really skilled at saying things like, “We’re going to include kids into this love tale, and we’re going to expand the globe and what we see of it.” If you believe the movie you’re going to see is a sequel to the previous one, think again.
Saldaa discussed how the renowned director was able to successfully upgrade the version of Pandora that moviegoers know and love from the previous one.
She explained, “The first film was a discovery of the forest, a discovery of Pandora on your Banshee,” she said. “It was unlike anything any of us had ever seen. And now it’s The Way of Water, and it’s a world all on its own and I felt like I was rediscovering Pandora all over again.”
Sigourney Weaver, who plays Jake and Neytiri’s daughter Kiri in Avatar 2, recognised that the film’s family-centered theme would undoubtedly touch viewers’ hearts.
Weaver remarked, “One of the things I enjoy about this movie is that you get to meet the kids and the tale is obviously about how the family will evolve. A few images from the film depict the Sully kids navigating self-identity and belonging as they transition from the familiar woodland to a life amid the waves, giving viewers a glimpse of this.
In one touching scene, Jake plays with the kids before inviting them into a cosy embrace. Another shows him telling one of his children, in a terrifying speech, the significance of blood ties “This family is our fortress, wherever we go.
It’s tough to overlook how high the stakes are given the buzz surrounding the movie. Avatar not only changed the face of cinema and left a legacy with which few films can compete, but it also destroyed its rivals at the box office, earning $2.9 billion worldwide.
It was given a better quality re-release earlier this year, and as a result, it became the first movie ever to gross $2.9 billion worldwide.
A slew of sequels might be released quickly after Avatar: The Way of Water succeeds, with production on Avatar 3 already finished and Avatar 4 well under way.
In fact, Cameron revealed he has plans for a sixth and seventh film, giving the Avatar universe the potential to inspire a lasting legacy. If all goes according to plan, the Avatar film series might rank among the biggest in history.
On December 16, Avatar: The Way of Water will debut in theatres and be accessible in IMAX. The featurette is available to view below.
