T.J. Holmes made light of the fact that he provided Marilee Fiebig, his estranged wife, with “plenty of reasons, excuses, and opportunities” to end their union years before the claimed affair between him and Amy Robach.

A 10th anniversary homage that T.J. Holmes uploaded in March 2020 in honour of the immigration lawyer went viral at the same time as rumours of his purported affair.

At the time, the 45-year-old former CNN anchor captioned old wedding pictures, “10 years ago, Marilee Fiebig wedded me.” And for the past ten years, she has stayed married to me despite my best attempts.

“That’s not hyperbole. I’m not being dramatic,” he continued. “I gave her plenty of reasons, excuses, and opportunities to walk her fine ass out the doooooooor.”

The Daytime Emmy nominee, who has a daughter named Sabine, 9, with Fiebig, continued by praising the lawyer’s “built-in black woman superpower” for displaying “incomprehensible grace and patience” toward him.

With 10 months being “a stretch” and 10 weeks being “fortunate,” Holmes continued, “asking her for another 10 years would be asking too much.”

Fiebig’s “decade challenge,” he called himself, and he added, “If she puts up with me another 10 days, I’d be grateful.”

On Thursday, Twitter users responded to the retro social media post, with one calling Holmes’ tweet “disturbing on so many levels.”

It seems a lot like “tried to get rid of her numerous times but she simply won’t heed the hint,” another person commented.

Three years after divorcing his ex-wife Amy Ferson, with whom Holmes shares son Jaiden and daughter Brianna, the journalist wed Fiebig in March 2010.

The alleged affair between Holmes and his “Good Morning America” co-anchor, 49, was first reported on Wednesday.

T.J. Holmes and Robach “were very careful” to keep their connection “hidden,” an insider informed , noting that the ABC stars’ respective marriages had ended in August. (Robach and Andrew Shue have been married since 2010)
