Anil Kapoor paid tribute to Bal Thackeray, also known as Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder of the Shiv Sena, on the 97th anniversary of his birth.

Anil shared a throwback monochrome photo of the actor and the politician on Twitter on Monday. Additionally, Anil wrote a letter to the late Shiv Sena leader.

Anil was seen in the image gazing at Bal Thackeray while grinning. The Shiv Sena leader stood in front of the actor and gestured with his hands.

Around them, a few people were also visible. In the picture, Balasaheb was wearing white ethnic clothing, while Anil was wearing a suit. Another image of Balasaheb wearing saffron was also shared by Anil.

The actor’s Instagram caption read, “If fearlessness had a face, it certainly belonged to BalaSaheb. One of those leaders who inspired me through his sense of humour, humility and strength!”

Anil also wrote, “He will call me and say, ‘Aare Anil! Tumhari nayi film lagi hai! Abhi tak dikhai nahi (Anil, your new film has been released. You haven’t shown me it yet)?’ Miss you #BalaSaheb! (folded hands emoji).”

Bal Thackeray, who was born in Pune, Maharashtra, in 1926, started his career as a cartoonist before quitting. In 1966, he subsequently founded the political party Shiv Sena.

Throughout his political career, he didn’t hold any positions of authority. On November 17, 2012, he passed away following a cardiac arrest. He was 86.

Bal Thackeray was honoured earlier in the day by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who praised him for dedicating his life to the common good. “Remembering Balasaheb Thackeray Ji on his birth anniversary. I will always cherish my various interactions with him. He was blessed with rich knowledge and wit. He devoted his life to public welfare,” On Monday, the prime minister tweeted.

Anil will next be seen with Sobhita Dhulipala in The Night Manager. Aditya Roy Kapur, Tillotama Shome, Saswata Chatterjee, and Ravi Behl are among the other cast members of the upcoming series, directed by Sandeep Modi.

On February 17, it will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The Night Manager by John le Carre has an official Hindi adaptation in the form of the television series.

Anil will co-star with Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone in Siddharth Anand’s upcoming film, Fighter, in addition to Night Manager.
