Anne Hathaway, also said that it was “thrilling” to “see the level of interest for it,” even if she withheld many details about the rumored in-development movie.

“We feel the exact same, and I know it’s probably very frustrating,” she says of the nearly two-decade wait for another sequel. “It’s a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things.”

Although Hathaway has not yet agreed to star, insiders told The Hollywood Reporter and The Wrap that Disney is working on the third Princess Diaries movie.

Aadrita Mukerji is allegedly writing the screenplay, and at the time asked Disney for comment, Disney did not immediately react.

Hathaway, who attended the festival to promote her most recent film Eileen, has been connected to the upcoming Princess Diaries series for a number of years.

Director Garry Marshall revealed to that he and the actress had discussed a second attempt at the film, in which she would reprise her role as Mia Thermopolis, before the 2016 release of Mother’s Day. Martin passed away in July 2016.

Andrews, 87, said, “I think we realise that that is probably not going to be doable.” “It was discussed fairly soon after [the second sequel] debuted, but how long has it been since then? Additionally, Annie the princess, or queen, is a great deal older than I am. Furthermore, I am not clear where it would run or float.”Hathaway was aware that the 2001 movie would be popular, though. “Getting the screenplay, it just had that vibe,” she recalled telling in January 2019. “I touched it, and it was electric.”

Hathaway continued, “Getting to make it and be on set every day, I got to hug Julie Andrews every day. Also very, very, very wonderful was that portion.
