Prince Harry ‘roared’ at Meghan Markle’s royal Christmas present

Many people have wondered over the years what the super rich buy each other for Christmas when money is no object. They could buy each other a brand-new car, the most gleaming jewels, or a priceless work of art.

However, we know that the royal family prefers funny, thoughtful gifts over expensive ones. And it turns out that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continued this tradition after leaving their royal roles and relocating to the United States.

In his book Spare, Harry recalls a thoughtful gift his wife gave him in 2020, their first holiday season after leaving senior positions.

He explains that Meghan spotted a Christmas tree ornament with a picture of the Queen on it in a local shop and “thought he would like it”.

He did, claiming to have “roared” when he opened it and placed it directly on the tree at Archie’s eye level.

Archie, like any toddler, found the tree fascinating and pulled the decoration off, so the sweet present didn’t last long. It was shattered.

Harry writes: “I grabbed a dustpan and swept up the pieces, all the while thinking: This is weird.”

Meghan and Harry celebrated Christmas 2020 with a stunning holiday photo. It showed them in their garden with Archie, standing outside a Wendy house.

The couple’s two dogs appear in the photograph, as does a small tree adorned with a large red bowl.

It was the couple’s second Christmas away from the royal family in as many years, and it came just before the end of a 12-month review of their new, non-royal arrangement.

During his interview with James Cordon, Harry revealed another detail about their low-key celebrations. He revealed that the Queen had given Archie a waffle maker, leaving the comedian speechless.
