‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ releases its new trailer
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is only a few months away, and a new thirty-second teaser trailer has been released to help fans who are eagerly awaiting the release of the feature film adaptation of the popular video game franchise.
In the video, Mario is pitted against another iconic Nintendo character, Donkey Kong. Fans can hear Seth Rogen’s voice as Donkey Kong for the first time in the clip.
The aforementioned clip features Chris Pratt’s Mario facing off against Seth Rogen’s Kong in a one-on-one smash-’em-up battle.
Needless to say, things don’t go well for poor old Mario, despite the helpful addition of a power-up in the form of a cat costume.
When the fight is over, Rogen roars with laughter and yells menacingly at Mario, “Now you die.” The significance of this video lies in the fact that Rogen’s Kong is heard for the first time, even though it is important for fans to see new footage before a movie’s release.
Each new character’s voice reveal is crucial because there has been much debate about whether Pratt’s vocal performance as Mario is good or bad given that it differs from the Italian accent used in all previous Mario games.
Fans were treated to voice reveals for Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Luigi in a feature trailer that was released toward the end of last year (Charlie Day).
Additionally, characters like Keegan-Michael Key’s Toad and Jack Black’s Bowser have appeared in promo trailers so that fans can learn more about how each actor created their well-known characters.
Given that each Mario character has a recognisable performer to help bring them to life, the names listed indicate that The Super Mario Bros. Movie will probably be a success.
The movie is produced by Universal’s Illumination studio, which is responsible for a slew of animated blockbusters like Despicable Me and Sing.
There is hope that Rogen’s Kong and Pratt’s Mario will help the studio achieve box office success once more. Universal has been enjoying success with its animated films set during the pandemic, out-grossing Disney and Pixar’s animated output across 2022.
On April 7, 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie premieres in North American theatres after previously hitting other international markets.
The earliest release date for the movie has been set for Belgium on March 22. France, Australia, and New Zealand will follow on March 29, France on March 30, and the UK on March 31.
