On opening day, Selfiee collected just ₹3 crore across the country, making it one of Akshay’s worst performing film of all time. The Malayalam film Driving License, which featured Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the key roles, has an official Hindi version called Selfiee. Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Diana Penty play the key characters in the Raj Mehta-directed movie. On February 24, 2023, it is scheduled to premiere in theaters.

Because Akshay just appeared in back-to-back flops, many questioned his selections as Selfiee failed to draw audiences to the theaters. Producer Ekta Kapoor reacted to it by publicly endorsing Akshay Kumar and writing a vehement response complimenting Akshay and his professionalism.

Ekta posted on Instagram Stories, “The most trustworthy and dependable performer to work with is Akshay Kumar! A majore low in itself is the depressing tabloid” The hashtag “insensitive” was also added by her.

A number of projects, including Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, OMG 2, the Soorarai Pottru remake, and others, are still in the works for Akshay.
