Ileana D’Cruz discusses how she avoids photographers and the paparazzi culture

In a recent interview, Ileana D’Cruz was questioned about “her disappearing act,” to which the actor replied that she “hated it” when people made such comments about her. Ileana claimed she hadn’t “vanished” and was still present, but unlike many other celebrities, she wasn’t constantly being photographed. Ileana explained why she does not consider the “paparazzi lifestyle” to be for her.

Ileana has taken a break from acting in movies while allegedly dating Sebastian Kaif, the brother of Katrina Kaif. She last appeared in The Big Bull, directed by Abhishek Bachchan (2021). Yet, the actor frequently publishes pictures from her projects and holidays to social media. In a recent interview, she talked openly about working on numerous projects without “being papped” and “doing it very discreetly with her head down.”

Ileana said to The Times of India when asked about “her disappearing act,” “I hate it when people think that! I don’t disappear! I’m here right now. I don’t share my whereabouts, so you don’t see me getting papped. I’ve had a taste of the pap culture in the past, but I quickly realized that it wasn’t for me. It’s not who I am, and I believe that being different is very acceptable. I’ve been shooting a lot of excellent work and have finished it. Oh sure, I have been working hard, although silently and with my head down.

Ileana also discussed whether she worries that, aside from red carpet appearances and film events, filmmakers may pass her by. I wouldn’t be telling the truth if I answered, “Well, I don’t think about it,” she added. Obviously, I do. I even tried it out. I tried the whole PR stuff because I felt like I needed to be more visible. Yet in the end, I didn’t really see a significant change. It all comes down to the interpersonal equation you have with others (filmmakers). Directors and producers prefer to get to know their actors a little better. I enjoy networking with people who share my interests and whom I wish to collaborate with. I’ve gone in that direction.

My work takes precedence when I’m doing it, and after I finish, I take some time to unwind and spend time with my family. I think having that balance is important since I can’t work nonstop.

Ileana made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with the movie Barfi, which also starred Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. She then made appearances in movies like Rustom, Main Tera Hero, and Phata Poster Nikla Hero. She will soon be seen opposite Randeep Hooda in Tera Kya Hoga Beautiful.
