SZA gushed about fellow singer ‘Taylor Swift’ in a recent Billboard interview. Taylor’s decision to re-record her albums was greatly appreciated. The ‘Shirt’ singer and ‘Shake it off’ star may compete for top spots, but they never miss an opportunity to congratulate each other on their achievements. In fact, they both adore each other’s work. SZA stated in the interview that Taylor Swift is one of the women in the music industry she most admires.

She further said, “Even Taylor letting that whole situation go with her masters and then selling all of those f**king records. That’s the biggest ‘f**k you’ to the establishment I’ve ever seen in my life, and I deeply applaud that s**t,”

SZA took the names of artists she admires in the music industry, including Chloe Bailey, Kahley, Lizzo, and Beyonce, in addition to Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift began re-recording her songs for what reason?

Taylor Swift decided to re-record her songs in the first place because she does not own the master recordings of her previous songs. All of the songs she recorded prior to 2019 do not have masters. She can, however, reclaim her masters by re-recording the same songs. Simply put, it’s the same as having ownership over your work. Taylor Swift’s first six albums’ master recordings became the subject of a dispute in 2019 between her and Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Records after the music was sold without her knowledge. Following a widely publicised argument, the singer began re-recording her tracks, and in 2021, she released Red (Taylor’s Version) and Fearless (Taylor’s Version).
