Anwar Maqsood shares perspective on the situation in Pakistan

Anwar Maqsood was featured in a video from a session titled An Evening With Mahira Khan that recently went viral on social media. The well-known author disparaged Maryam Aurangzeb and Maryam Nawaz, two female leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Khan was heard in the video asking about two women who were shouting and fighting, to which Maqsood replied that they were Maryam Nawaz and Maryam Aurangzeb.
Anwar further added, “I am prohibited from discussing politics, and I cannot make any personal remarks. We can only hope that things will improve shortly. What you stated about people abusing one another—I used poisoning as an example—happens in real life as well. Also, neither of them are character performers.”
Because this comment opted to specifically target the female lawmakers using the same misogynistic assumptions Khan was denouncing in her session, it was properly criticised. Twitter users criticised Khan for her selective morality and urged the actor to consider the feminist values she is promoting. Why is she constantly condemning the usage of derogatory terms against women while simultaneously supporting this method of publicly shaming female politicians? Baffling.

Girlboss Mahira Khan of course we need to ask a man to know about how patriarchy has pitted women against each other, and then you’re enjoying it because it’s women you don’t support personally . Get off with your selective morality. https://t.co/nava8ukD55

i don’t expect anything good from him, because he is a man, but it’s so baffling to see Mahira Khan applauding over this incitement of misogyny and sexism, she literally made a brand by capitalizing over feminism, but is not consious about how harmful this is for Pakistani women https://t.co/JK7FQtN5fz

The PMLN Senator wrote on Twitter about Mahira khan and Anwar Maqsood, “Mahira Khan has mental health problems and Anwar Maqsood has become a drunkard at this stage of life. Both of them are shameless characters and the public should condemn them for it. There are books written about Mahira Khan’s character, and she is known for even flattering Indian actors for the sake of money and Anwar Maqsood is filled with hatred at this point of his life.”
How deeply ingrained misogyny is in this nation is demonstrated by the politician making such despicable remarks about Khan and Maqsood and whose party is currently in power. Celebrities like Atiqa Odho and Farhan Saeed publicly denounced Dr Ullah Khan’s words for displaying his misogynist mindset.
Farhan Saeed, Atiqa Odho, Mira Sethi, and others shared this remark and denounced Afnan Ullah Khan:
This is the mentality that doesn’t let #Pakistan grow , this is what they do when someone just gives an opinion or has a political preference . They get personal so people stop giving their opinion .

It seems that the tolerance in people has ended and respect has far been left behind. We just cannot live happily and don’t allow others to do the same.
