Duchess Sophie wears a unique brooch at Commonwealth Day

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh stunned in a Proenza Schouler coat at Westminster Abbey on Monday for the Commonwealth Day Service. But it was her brooch that drew the attention of royal fans.

“She looks fabulous and I am so happy for them. Well-deserved honour, Royal fan @lalauraru777 tweeted.

“There must be some significance in this brooch – it’s a bit different, is it not? Perhaps an artisan she has championed.”

In fact, the Duchess wore the brooch as recently as December 2022 at Kate Middleton’s carol concert, Together at Christmas.

The brooch was a “gift to Sophie from 2015,” according to royal fashion expert @dagmar Marie77.

They tweeted: “It was a gift from the Czech designer Mrs Štěpánka Tóth Kufřiřtová, owner of the STEFANY® jewellery.”

The two stones included in the jewel are called “feather agate with a cavity filled by pure crystal”.

This brand “creates one-of-a-kind pieces by combining rare stones with silver, gold, and other metals,” according to the expert.

According to this expert, the brooch may have a hidden meaning.

The Duchess of Edinburgh accessorised her coat and brooch with a white Valextra “Iside” top-handle mini bag.

She completed her look with a felt Jane Taylor “Ilithyia” pillbox hat. Sophie chose Prada’s natural classic pumps for her footwear.

Sophie’s look from Monday’s Commonwealth Day Service was a hit with royal fans.

@hillier_noel tweeted: “Simple but very chic, she looked every inch the Duchess of Edinburgh in this ensemble, by Proenza Schouler.”

According to Instagram user @silvina.blanco.58: “I believe she has discovered her personal style. Every day, I improve.”

Another follower, @rebpat1113, commented: “She has a nice appearance. She has a lovely colour on her and a classic hat. Nothing flashy, but appropriate for the occasion.”

@teri dost’s Instagram account compared the Duchess to the Princess of Wales, writing, “This is such a Kate look – but Sophie looks amazing.”
