After breaking off his engagement to Avril Lavigne, Mod Sun is now concentrating on the future.

In an Instagram post, the artist, 35, discussed his turbulent week, which saw him and Lavigne break up 10 months after becoming engaged. He said he was working on getting over his loss.

Mod, who is presently on tour, claimed that entertaining fans every night has kept him upbeat.

On tour, he said, “Being surrounded by love every night has been an unbelievable blessing. “Thanks to them for always having my back, I have the best friends in the entire world. I’ll see you there.”

The pop-punk musician, whose actual name is Derek Smith, posted a number of images and videos from live performances along with his message, beginning with a grave-looking selfie in the mirror.

He and Lavigne, 38, “have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple,” a source reportedly told media last week.

According to a Mod Sun representative, the artist was taken by surprise when their romance ended: “When Mod left for his tour three days ago, they were already together and engaged, so if anything has happened, he is unaware of it. The Hawthorne Theater in Portland will host a performance by Mod tonight.”
